Jakarta, August 28, 2023 – Support for the acceleration of the development and utilization of new and renewable energy in Indonesia is carried out by Sinar Mas through PT Daya Sukses Makmur Selaras, an indirect subsidiary of PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk and PT Agra Surya Energi which collaborates with Trina Solar to develop the first integrated solar cell and solar module manufacturing plant in Indonesia. Under the auspices of PT Trina Mas Agra Indonesia, there will be a factory with an initial production capacity of 1 gigawatt peak per year worth an investment of more than 100 million US dollars, in the Kendal Special Economic Zone, Central Java, which uses the latest i-TOPCon cell and module technology.

According to Vice President Director of PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa, Tbk, Lokita Prasetya who also represents the management of Trina Mas Agra Indonesia, the main purpose of the factory construction is to support the program to increase the mix of new renewable energy of the Indonesian government and PT PLN (Persero) through the provision of solar cells and solar panels produced domestically in accordance with the level of domestic consumption with a bankable brand. "We are optimistic that the operation of this plant will support the joint efforts of the Indonesian people to provide clean and renewable energy sources. With the hope that the solar panel production chain in our country continues to strengthen, so that in the future, the products produced will become more competitive, and with better quality. Which is very important because the existing market opportunities are still very open," said Lokita during the groundbreaking, Monday (28/8/2023).

The panel and solar cell factories are expected to be commercially operational in the second quarter and third quarter of 2024, respectively. The parties in this partnership plan to increase the plant's production capacity to reach 3 gigawatt peak in the next 2-3 years. "The presence of production facilities in Kendal is the company's commitment under the auspices of Sinar Mas in supporting the acceleration of the energy transition to reduce carbon emission release. Because of the widespread use of solar energy, it will provide added value not only for us, but also its users, both from the scope of the industrial and residential sectors, and of course our environment," said Managing Director of Sinar Mas, Ferry Salman.

Cahyanto, Regent of Kendal Regency, Dico Mahtado Ganinduto, Director of Corporate Planning and Business Development of PT PLN (Persero), Hartanto Wibowo, and Managing Director of Sinar Mas,  Saleh Husin.
