Power Generation Education Program for Sulawesi Fresh Graduates


KENDARI, October 17, 2018 - PT DSSP Power Kendari, through the EDP (Engineering Development Program) and PTPL (Electrical Power Generation Education) programs, has prepared Bachelor/Diploma and high school/vocational high school graduates to become electrical engineers, operators, and technicians. Through the 1-2 years of educational programs, the company has successfully graduated 89 graduates at the Swiss-Belhotel Kendari on Wednesday, October 17, 2018.

PT DSSP Power Kendari, a company that operates an IPP PLTU with a capacity of 2 x 50 MW, is an indirect subsidiary of PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA), a company that focuses on the energy and infrastructure business. The IPP PLTU Kendari-3 project located in South Konawe, Southeast Sulawesi is one of the three IPP PLTU projects of DSSA.

Participants from both EDP and PTPL programs were selected based on a rigorous recruitment and selection process. Local graduates from Sulawesi were prioritized. The EDP program was developed by the company's internal team and was designed to provide participants with training on the process and system of PLTU. At the end of the training, participants performed internship to strengthen their knowledge and skills. Meanwhile, the PTPL program was developed in collaboration with Sekolah Tinggi Teknik PLN in Jakarta. With the purpose to hone the skills and work attitudes of the participants as prospective operators or technicians, the PTPL program was designed to be a combination of in-class and field trainings. At the end of the training, each participant of EDP and PTPL programs is assessed to obtain certificate of competency from PT Sertifikasi Kompetensi Pembangkit Tenaga Listrik.

Mr. Hermawan Tarjono, Director of Human Resources at DSSA, explained that the EDP and PTPL programs are manifestations of the company's commitment to empowering communities around the company's operational areas. These programs not only educate the best graduates from universities and high school/vocational schools to become competent, reliable, and certified electricity experts, but also provide opportunities for the graduates to work at the IPP PLTU owned by DSSA. The EDP and PTPL programs are not only beneficial for the company, but are also beneficial for the local community surrounding the operational area of the company's.

Representing participants of the EDP and PTPL programs, Ahmad Darsa said that during the training programs, participants received trainings on both technical and soft skills in order to prepare them to become professional employees, the participants felt that they have become well-prepared to enter the professional world. As a native of Sulawesi, he felt proud to be a part of the EDP and PTPL programs and henceforth to be able to work together to develop his own region.

The graduation ceremony was filled with, among others, an explanation and presentation of the report on the implementation of the EDP and PTPL programs by Mr. Mohamad Ramdan, as Division Head - O&M Business Support, graduation procession of giving graduation certificates and transcripts to all EDP and PTPL participants, and awards distribution to the best EDP and PTPL participants.
