Kendal, 19 June 2025 — Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita today officially inaugurated Indonesia’s first and largest integrated solar panel manufacturing facility, PT Trina Mas Agra Indonesia (TMAI), located in the Kendal Industrial Estate, Central Java. This integrated solar cell and module factory is a result of collaboration between Trina Solar Co., Ltd, PT Daya Sukses Makmur Selaras (a subsidiary of PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk, part of Sinar Mas), and PT PLN Indonesia Power Renewables. The inauguration demonstrates Sinar Mas’ commitment, through TMAI, to support the advancement of renewable energy transition in Indonesia.
Investment and Capacity to Drive Clean Energy
Lokita Prasetya, Deputy President Director of PT Trina Mas Agra Indonesia (TMAI), stated that the facility represents an investment of over IDR 1.5 trillion. The plant has created jobs for up to 640 workers and includes training programs to enhance workforce skills, particularly in solar cell and module manufacturing technologies.
“The factory is ready for operation and utilizes next-generation i-TOPCon Advanced technology, capable of producing solar panels with power output up to 720 Wp per panel and best-in-class efficiency of 23.2%,” said Lokita.
As the first integrated solar cell and module manufacturing facility in the country, TMAI has an initial production capacity of up to 1 GW, making it the largest solar panel factory in Indonesia. The facility is also capable of producing some of the world’s largest solar panels.
Strengthening National Renewable Industry
Ferry Salman, Managing Director of Sinar Mas, expressed his appreciation for the Indonesian Government’s support in steering the energy transition, especially in advancing solar energy development.
“We appreciate the government’s continued commitment to fostering renewable energy through solar utilization. We hope to maintain this positive momentum so that Indonesia’s solar panel industry can grow independently and become more competitive,” he said.
The inauguration was attended by the Governor of Central Java, Ahmad Luthfi, senior leaders of Sinar Mas and TMAI, key strategic partners, and invited guests.
Supporting Energy Independence and Economic Growth
The presence of TMAI is expected to make a significant contribution to Indonesia’s clean energy goals and reduce dependence on imported components for the energy industry.
TMAI Director Ooi Kok Tiong added that the factory aims to accelerate industrial downstreaming by developing the domestic solar energy ecosystem and its supply chain—both horizontally (supporting industries) and vertically (including wafer and ingot manufacturing, and polysilicon smelting).
“The factory is also projected to contribute 8% annually to economic growth, generating approximately IDR 3.7 trillion during the investment phase and IDR 1 trillion per year during the operational phase,” said Ooi Kok Tiong.
The establishment of this integrated solar cell and module facility not only represents a technological investment, but also a strategic move to strengthen Indonesia’s clean energy ecosystem, support green economy development, and sustainably enhance national energy resilience and workforce capabilities.
