Background Shape

The mining business line is one of the main pillars in the Company’s business structure. This activity is carried out through subsidiaries focused on coal exploration, production, and trading, both for domestic and export markets.

The Company is one of the key players in Indonesia’s coal mining industry, with proven thermal coal reserves of 0.9 billion tons. Mining operations are conducted through two main subsidiaries:

  1. PT Golden Energy Mines Tbk (GEMS) – supplies coal for industrial needs, both domestically and for export.
  2. PT DSSE Energi Mas Utama – supplies coal specifically to Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

This dual-track business model offers flexibility in marketing while also strengthening reach in both domestic and international markets.

Since beginning operations in 1997 and listing on the Indonesia Stock Exchange in 2011, GEMS has continued to expand its operational network. Currently, GEMS holds several mining concession areas in strategic provinces:

  • South Sumatra
  • Jambi
  • West Sumatra
  • South Kalimantan
  • Central Kalimantan

GEMS operates through its subsidiaries: PT Borneo Indobara (BIB), PT Kuansing Inti Makmur, and PT Barasentosa Lestari.
