Jakarta, May 16, 2025 — PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (IDX: DSSA) (“DSSA” or “the Company”), a subsidiary of the Sinar Mas Group, continues to strengthen its position in the digital sector through a strategic investment in Vidio, the number one over-the-top (OTT) video streaming platform in Indonesia. Through its subsidiary, PT DSST Video Gemilang (DSST), DSSA has invested IDR 32.8 billion as part of its participation in a rights issue conducted by PT Vidio Dot Com—a subsidiary of PT Surya Citra Media Tbk (SCMA), under the umbrella of PT Elang Mahkota Teknologi Tbk (EMTK).
This corporate action is aimed at reinforcing Vidio’s foundation for sustainable growth, including improving the quality of local content, accelerating technology adoption, and enhancing monetization strategies. This funding support will solidify Vidio’s path toward expanding its market share and moving closer to profitability amidst an increasingly competitive OTT landscape.
According to Media Partners Asia data for Q4 2024, Vidio ranked first among both local and global OTT players in terms of Monthly Active Users (MAU) and Number of Subscribers. Furthermore, data from the Google Play Store shows that Vidio also held the No. 1 position in the entertainment category in terms of consumer spending. Vidio continues to strengthen its positioning as “The Home of Sports” by serving as the official broadcaster for a range of premium sports content such as the English Premier League, UEFA Champions League, the Indonesian National Team, Paris 2024 Olympics, La Liga, Serie A, NBA, and more.
Beyond sports programming, Vidio is also cementing its leadership in premium local original series. In 2025, it is projected to reach 100 Vidio Original Series titles. As of December 2024, Vidio has released 90 Original Series, garnering 150 million viewers and a total of 1.2 billion streams on its platform.
Strengthening the Digital Ecosystem Through Investment and Collaboration
This initiative further strengthens the synergy between DSSA and the EMTK digital ecosystem, particularly in creating high-quality, accessible, and locally relevant digital entertainment services for the Indonesian public.
“Our investment in Vidio reflects our commitment to enhancing the content aspect of the national digital ecosystem. Vidio has proven its unique position as a competitive and innovative local OTT platform, especially in delivering local content and premium sports. We believe this synergy will serve as a critical foundation to drive a complementary and globally competitive digital industry in Indonesia,” said Daniel Cahya, Director of PT Dian Swastatika Sentosa Tbk (DSSA).
This move is also part of DSSA’s strategy to grow its business portfolio in the technology, media, and digital infrastructure sectors. DSSA sees Vidio as a strategic partner capable of expanding entertainment content distribution while opening opportunities for cross-platform service integration.
For context, Sinar Mas Group through DSST first invested in Vidio in 2022. Since then, the strategic collaboration has continued to evolve, including service integration with MyRepublic (FTTH network) and XLSMART (mobile data service), together reinforcing Vidio’s position within Indonesia’s digital entertainment ecosystem.
